Today is… Thunderous.
Wet, rainy, wind-blown, lightning-flashing thunderous.
The downpour moves across the landscape in waves coming straight down in big, fat drops to hammering the world at a steep angle, as the trees sway and bend to the whim of the wind.
I am fond of days like today.
The dark and damp makes me grateful for a cozy house and a hot beverage as I sit here at the desk with only the glow of the dual monitors and LED strip light illuminating me.
No radio.
No TV.
Only the click of fingers on the keys, the burble of the water in the cats’ fountain, the hum of the duct fan as heat blows up from the furnace…. and the hiss and rumble of the storm.
Even the songbirds aren’t making as much noise today as they shelter beneath the front porch and in the Black Hills Spruce outside the office, hiding from the pummeling rain.
I like days like today.
