Good Day and Happy Sunday, Dear Readers!
It’s been a weird, broken-up week around here. I worked, I played, I worked again. I introduced people to other people, I networked, I moved and shook. I wrote in my notebook, I snapped a few photos and I explored some recipes for radishes. All good things. I even contemplated baking cookies, but the thought passed.
Last weekend, DH and I butchered a couple of roosters, not butchering all eleven birds that we had to put in the freezer. We’re slow on the butchering and I’m on the prowl for someone who will butcher my birds in a fast and efficient manner. Do you know how difficult that is to find? No? Well, let me tell you… it’s pretty damned difficult. But, enough about that.
We had a good, hard freeze on Saturday morning. The kale and radishes were surprised. It’s the end of the garden and I’m looking for some radish pickle recipes. I believe I’ve found some good ones that will preserve my radishes for the weeks and months to come. I have to get cracking on them. My kale will be pulled, chopped and stewed with tomatoes and eaten, by me, because it’s a green and DH isn’t keen on greens (he’s a picky eater).
DH and I started to clean out our office closet… namely the music CDs. There are a lot of them. Not nearly as many as some people have, but more than some. My plan was to rip them all to the computer and then sell them. My plan hit a snag I want to label “remorse”. Did I really want to sell off all those CDs? What if something happened? What about keeping them for the sake of posterity? So… into some storage bins they go and into our storage space. Preserved for posterity. I’m okay with that decision.
Now to the search terms. This weeks winner is: Jolly Roger. Good Old Jolly Roger. The mark of a pirate. Someone has been doing their research!
Our runner-up for the week is: pure malt mechanical pencil. What? Dear Readers, I actually had to go do a search for this myself as I didn’t know what in hell this search was about. Apparently Uni-Ball has a “pure malt wood” mechanical pencil out on the market. By the way – my page didn’t even show up on the first page of results for this search in Google…
Let’s get to some FACTS!
Random Facts 296 – 302
Random Fact #296 – I really enjoy “Sunday” drives.
Sunday drives are a pleasure. There is no goal other than just to drive and see where the car takes you. This was a much-discussed status on Facebook, and many people have fond memories of Sunday drives; from just driving around to many going for ice cream or frozen custard, the reasons for the love of a Sunday drive abound.
Random Fact #297 – I find broken down old farms saddening, they should be full of life.
I grew up in a farming community. Barns were places that were full of life, from the smallest nest of kittens to the cows or horses, they were alive. Derelict barns, long forgotten and neglected break my heart. They are sad, crying out for the attention they once had.
Random Fact #298 – I hate Field Sandburs.
If you have ever stepped bare-footed upon a Field Sandbur, you know about what I write. These interlopers of the barren lot and sandy areas are a bane to my existence. I didn’t even know of them until we moved to our current home. They are a scourge.
Random Fact #299 – I don’t like feeling that “special arrangements” need to be made for my diet when going out with friends.
This whole gluten-free thing can be a real pain in the tookus. I will be able to find something to eat just about anywhere. Even if I have to order it without a bun…. and as long as it’s not at Perkins restaurants (which apparently serves NOTHING Gluten Free).
Random Fact #300 – I believe in being good for Goodness’ sake.
I don’t believe in being good to gain some sort of benefit in the afterlife. I believe in being good right now because it counts right now. People won’t always remember what you said to them, but they will remember how you made them feel.
Random Fact #301 – I love pumpkin-based foods… especially the baked goodies.
Pumpkin muffins. Pumpkin pancakes. Pumpkin cookies. Pumpkin bars with cream cheese frosting. Pumpkins cake…. and now I have to learn how to make all this stuff gluten-free.
Random Fact #302 – I think my couch is one of the most comfortable spots on the planet.
It’s true. I cannot lay on the couch with a book to read without falling asleep in fifteen minutes or less. It’s squishy and firm at the same time. The material is ultrasuede, the color of milk chocolate and oh-so-soft, I just want to rub my face on it. The couch is drool-inducing and not just for me – the dog and cats do, too! I love my couch.
Thanks for tuning in, Dear Readers! Check back again next week!
