So, I’m a bit of a Liberal, a CONSERVATIVE Liberal, and I saw this post the other day “Support the Student Loan Forgiveness Act of 2012“. Are you KIDDING ME?! What a load of bullshit! (You don’t know how it IRKS me to put the link for this on this post)
I went to school, I racked up student loans and it took me ten years to pay them off. I PAID MY LOANS OFF! I even took the lower payments/higher interest/10-year-payoff option.
As much as I am all for equal rights and education, etc., if YOU rack up student loans because YOU choose to undergo higher educations, then YOU need to pay your loans off. I don’t care how much you rack up – YOU pay them off. If you can’t afford a student loan, you work your ass off to be awarded scholarships or grants to pursue your education, or you work your ass off at a job to PAY your loans off.
These whiny-ass people who think we should all feel sorry for them because they went to an expensive private college and need assistance to pay off their loans…. three words: too fucking bad. I went to a state school. I ran out of money because I didn’t know what I wanted to be when I grew up… and it didn’t help that I refuse to grow up either, but I PAID OFF my $15k in student loans. Don’t come crying (or bitching) to me that YOU can’t pay off the money that YOU AGREED to pay back. Let me play a tune for you on the world’s tiniest violin…
Gotta have more of my opinion on this subject? There is a Part 2!
I concur. I am sick of hearing the same old bull crap. Even the worlds tiniest violin is too BIG to play a tune for these whingers 😀
LOL I have to say that this has been a very popular post… I may have to write a “part two”. There was a good debate on my FB page earlier today.
Food for thought. (and yes, I pay my loans too)

I’ve just had the chance to watch this and my initial thoughts post-viewing haven’t swayed me from my original opinion. I think I have to watch this again (minus the coffee… though that DID keep me awake for all the “ahhing” and “umming” from Senator Franken and Prof. Cole) to completely understand things from the “victims” side of things. Everything is always more complicated than it seems, but the focus is on private schools/private loans and fraud. I have to say though, that after the fraud portion, there are other, just as important issues going on on the parts of the “victims” (and I have that in quotes for a reason). First, though, another viewing is in order.
