If you could trade places with someone for a week, whom would you choose? Why?
Oh dear. You know… my first thought was to pick someone wealthy. Why? Because they have everything materialistic that they could possibly want. They have the fancy houses, the fancy cars, the fancy clothes…. the list goes on.
But, when I think about it, how many of those people are truly, utterly happy with their life? I think I’d want to be one the happiest people in the world for a week, just to see who they are, and why it is that they are the happiest person in the world. You see, happiness is a choice. You can wake up in the morning and DECIDE to be happy – it’s usually what I do. Most of the time it works.
I’ve heard that some of the worlds happiest people live in some of the world’s poorest regions. That these people are happy because of friends and family and community. I’d like that. Happiness is not tied to a bank account. I’ve been making more of an effort to know my neighbors other than knowing them on sight as we wave from our yards to each other. To create that sense of community here. The answer for me is: to be one of the happiest people in the world.
