I’ll have 3 Big Macs, 2 large fries and …. a diet coke, please.

Today I went to Subway for lunch to try the Pulled Pork sub.  The gentleman behind me ordered a salad, stated he wanted “only a drizzle” of dressing, and then proceeded to order a soda and three cookies at the checkout.  I refrained from laughing.

Why do people make this false attempt at a virtuous diet?  We’ve all heard someone ahead of, or behind us, placing an order that is high on all the tasty, but horrible for us, stuff… and then order the “diet” soda.  Is it due to a false sense of thinking that if they order the diet soda, that cancels out the “bad stuff”?

I got my Pulled Pork sub (heavily laden with veggies), chips and regular  coke and headed back to the office, bewildered and amused at the “logic” that the other patron showed.  How has this way of thinking come about?  Brainwashing?  Convenience?  Who knows…

My sub was delicious, laden with veggies and I don’t care that I had a regular coke.  My “baked” chips canceled out the “bad stuff”.
