Fancy Coffee Friday: Bleeding Hearts

It’s still officially Friday. Fancy Coffee Friday to be exact and today I’m going to do a bit of bragging.

IMG_20150821_150531Today, I gave up some vital life solids – red blood cells. I’d have said “vital life juices” but they gave the juicy bits back to me. I have type A Negative blood, which apparently only 7% of Caucasians have (and even less if you’re not Caucasian). The Red Cross has had a severe shortage of donations this summer, particularly from those of us who are negative individuals.

So, if you can take a little time to go donate blood, red blood cells, platelets or plasma with the Red Cross, please do. You never know when you, or someone you know, may need blood.

You are exactly right. Wife and I talked with an HS classmate today along with her husband who is fighting a form of cancer. He needed 3 units this week, with out it he would be dead, plus this is not the first time he’s needed it. Never know whose life you may save, could easily be a family member as well. Very nice Sarah 🙂

  2. I am AB negative. .06%.
Last time I tried to give blood they told me I didn’t weigh enough.
I clock in at 138 pounds now, so maybe this time round they will go for it.
Getting fat and pudgy in my old age.

I try to give every chance I have . . . though I have O+, which is a very common blood-type, so the need for “John blood” isn’t quite as high as others 😉
