I’m going to borrow a bit from Girl on the Contrary‘s Thoughts on a Friday for this. Please bear with me and awful poetry:
Fruit fly upon my laptop screen
Red eyes, staring at me
Bowls of citrus and onions,
Refuse, it calls to thee.
Your red eyes stare as you walk,
my finger poised, and you stop and look
so still you stand, alert and aware
before I press down, to wing you took.
Fruit fly, you vex me so.
You flit about, and land in my view;
the cookie dough you try to hang on
I’m left with feelings, oh if you only knew.
Dear Fruit Fly, please leave off.
There is nothing here for you but death;
your short-lived life is nearing the end.
To the compost pile, I’ll send you with this breath.
